Mandar Jayawant and Batsaihan Jamichoi established Enviar Capital in 2009 to partner Mongolian companies with international sources of capital and expertise and to help them grow. Before founding Enviar, Mandar Jayawant used to direct country strategy and private sector investment for the Asian Development Bank as its Deputy Country Director for Mongolia. Batsaihan Jamichoi, is a respected Mongolian business manager with a proven record of managing and turning around Mongolian businesses. Their insights into the business environment and economy and crucial relationships with reputed Mongolian companies, with the authorities, and with international organizations offer an unmatched platform for Mongolia investments. In 2010 Mandar Jayawant and Batsaihan Jamichoi invited Asia Pacific Capital as a technical partner and set up Mongolia Opportunities Partners to establish the Mongolia Opportunities Fund.
Asia Pacific Capital was a 50/50 J.V. partner of General Electric for 12 years and the manager of two funds – GE-APC Technology Fund and Asia Pacific Capital Fund II. GE-APC Technology Fund manages both, GE’s balance sheet money and assets of other institutions and corporations. It has realized an IRR exceeding 20% on its Asian investments. Asia Pacific Capital Fund II is a USD 150 million Asia growth opportunity fund, primarily focused on China and India. It is seeded by BNP Paribas and sponsored by a group of leading Asian pension funds and insurance companies. The team has successfully invested in Asian technology, telecommunications, manufacturing, real estate, life sciences, retail, media and natural resources companies.
